2016 Piedmont Blues Preservation Society winners perform at IBC Memphis or Bust Showcase and Fundraiser
Greensboro, NC – Piedmont Blues Preservation Society (PBPS) 2016 Blues Challenge winners Gabe Morales (Youth), Seth Williams & Terry VunCannon (Duo) and Laura Blackley & The Wildflowers (Band) are set to perform at the Memphis or Bust Showcase and Fundraiser, Sunday, January 15, 2017, from 3pm to 7pm at The Blind Tiger, 1819 Spring Garden Street in Greensboro, NC. Tickets are $10 for non-PBPS members, $8 for PBPS members, and are available at the door. The event also includes a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and an Autographed Guitar Raffle.
The PBPS winners will be performing with a possibility of them jamming after their performances
Winners compete locally all over the world in three categories – youth, solo/duo, and band – to win the right to advance to the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee and to represent their affiliate blues society to the Blues Foundation. Raising funds will help defray the costs that come out of the artist’s own pockets.
The 2017 International Blues Challenge (IBC) will be held from January 31st to February 4th, 2017 in Memphis, TN. The International Showcase will open the event on January 31 with competition rounds on February 1-3 in 22 venues located along historic Beale Street. The world’s largest gathering of Blues acts compete for cash, prizes, and industry recognition at the competition. The Blues Foundation and its Affiliated Organizations search for the best new Blues Bands and Solo/Duo Blues Act ready to take their act to the international stage.
