2nd Ever Dunleath Porchfest To Feature 34 Performances
Greensboro, NC — The Dunleath Neighborhood will turn its porches into stages when it presents its 2nd Ever Dunleath Porchfest on Saturday, June 9. Porchfest is a unique event in which neighbors offer their porches as performance venues, performers offer to share their talents, and guests can stroll from house to house enjoying the performances and the hospitality of our neighborhood. The event will be held from 12-5 pm. Admission is free.
This year’s Porchfest will feature thirty-four bands, musicians, singers, and storytellers performing throughout the neighborhood, and will culminate in a single performance at Sternberger Park at 4 pm. Musical genres include bluegrass, classic rock and pop, classic country, old-time, reggae, American & British folk tunes, Celtic and Irish, Gypsy and Latin jazz, and Hokum blues — covers and originals. A piper playing bagpipes and Scottish smallpipes join Dunleath Porchfest for the first time, and we’ll have 2 guest storytellers – one featuring songs and stories tailored to a pre-school audience, one with stories based on his real-life comical hunting and fishing tales. Our single closing act will feature local favorites, The Swampies (formerly the Swamp Nots), at 4 pm at Sternberger Park, Dunleath’s neighborhood park, bounded by Summit Avenue, Dewey Street, and Fifth Avenue.
This family-friendly event will also feature food vendors, fun stuff for kids, event t-shirts available for sale, and to generate community goodwill, we’ll collect canned goods for the One Step Further food pantry. Admission is free and all are welcome.
