An early start

David Crawford filed paperwork at the Guilford County Board of Elections on Monday to form his campaign committee for a run for the District 4 seat in the 2009 Greensboro City Council contest. One other candidate, Anthony Triplin, has already filed for the at-large council race. Crawford said he had dropped plans to run for Congress in North Carolina’s 6th district. The seat is currently held by Republican Howard Coble; two Democrats, Jay Ovittore and Johnny J. Carter, have announced plans to run. “With the two people running [for the Democratic nomination], it would be a nightmare,” Crawford said. “I talked to Coble. Everybody’s telling me the same thing: ‘You should run for council.'” – Jordan Green
