It’s the 50th anniversary of the desegregation of the FW Woolworth lunch counter and the International Civil Rights Center & Museum is hosting a celebration entitled, The Moment, The Music, The Movement. The Empire Room located at 203 S. Elm St. will hold two events while the museum conducts tours of its exhibitions. First, from 1 to 3 p.m. there will be a civil rights ecumenical service in which sit-in participants and former Woolworth employees will be acknowledged for their actions. Then there will be a jubilee from 3 to 6 p.m. Music will be provided by Boston’s House of Jazz All-Stars, the Destiny Brothers, Shanna and others. You won’t want to miss this exciting celebration of one of the most important historic events that ever took place.
