Global nutrition company locates in Winston-Salem
California-based dietary supplements company Herbalife announced last week that it will create a manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, bringing 493 new jobs and an investment of $130 million to the region.
The company benefited from a generous incentives package from state and local government. Herbalife was awarded up to $1 million from the state’s One North Carolina Fund and could receive as much as $5.6 million from the Job Development Investment Grant, which is equal to 70 percent of the state personal income withholding taxes derived from the creation of new jobs.
Herbalife will retrofit the old Dell facility in southeast Winston-Salem.
The average salary of the jobs will be $40,194, compared to an overall average salary of $42,588 in Forsyth County.
