PTI receives grant to enable HondaJet expansion

The US Economic Development Administration has awarded $1.5 million to the Piedmont Triad International Airport for the completion of a new taxiway. Airport officials and elected leaders, such as US Sen. Kay Hagan and US Rep. Howard Coble, said the taxiway allows airport tenant HondaJet to expand while adding maintenance and manufacturing jobs. News releases from Hagan and Coble indicated that the grant is expected to leverage $80 million in private investment and create 419 jobs.

Other tenants that will benefit from the expansion include Timco and Cessna Aircraft Co., airport Executive Director Kevin Baker said.
