FAMILY AFFAIR

According to reports, hostage standoff happened at a Traveler’s Inn at 5906 University Parkway in Winston-Salem on Feb. 3 at 10:36 a.m. The police and SWAT team arrived and began the negotiation process. The wanted man who was issued a warrant for his arrest refused to surrender. On Feb. 4 at 1:30 p.m., the hostage, Andrew Menjivar was released unharmed. The standoff continued until 3:30 p.m. when suspect Christopher Shane Jenkins finally surrendered. Menjivar is Jenkin’s brother. The two men are currently in the Forsyth County jail. ROBBERY ON WEST MARKET

Reports say a man was awakened to a knock at a door at 815 West Market Street in Greensboro on Feb. 9 at 7:40 a.m. When he opened the door, three suspects barged inside the place, took personal belongings and assaulted him. Then they took off into an unknown direction. The resident had minor injuries. The suspects were described as three black males. One was 6 feet tall, and the other two were 5 feet 8 inches tall. FIGHTING BACK

According to reports, Jessica Swafford was delivering newspapers and pulled into the parking lot of a Wilco on Reynolda Road in Winston-Salem on Feb. 9 at 4:32 a.m. A man approached her and asked to use her cell phone. He entered inside the vehicle with an object in his right hand and demanded Jessica to take him to the ATM to get money from her account. She tried to get out of the vehicle when she and the suspect scuffled. The suspect then grabbed her wallet that was in the vehicle and walked off. She tried to grab the suspect in another scuffle and pulled off his coat. He then ran east from the parking lot. A police K-9 was utilizied but the suspect wasn’t found. The suspect is described as 6 feet tall and 170 pounds. He has red hair and was wearing blue jeans and a dark blue jacket.
