VICTIM JUMPS FROM PARKING DECK
Greensboro police went to Elm Street on Aug. 4 in reference to a body in the roadway. When they arrived, they found a deceased black male, 33, lying in the roadway. Witnesses said he jumped from the top of the parking deck. He died upon impact.
BUICK ON THE RUN
On Aug. 2, in Greensboro, Police observed a damaged 1994 Buick parked along the road around Merritt Drive and Immanuel Road. The car matched the description of a vehicle involved in a series of hit and runs in the same area. When officers began questioning Tori Stimpson, the driver of the Buick, about the accidents, she entered the car and fled the scene. After a brief, low-speed chase, the officer ended the pursuit with a “precision immobilization technique” to stop the car, less than one mile from the initial site of contact. After a moment, Stimpson drove away again and crashed the car into a nearby home at 3003 Immanuel Road. Stimpson appeared to be uninjured and was taken by EMS for physical and mental evaluation. This investigation is on-going, and charges are pending.
YOW ROAD GUNFIRE
Shots were fired at a home on Yow Road in Greensboro on Aug. 1. Four residents were inside the house when a black Ford Mustang convertible with a brown or tan top and tinted windows drove by and discharged several rounds of gunfire into the home. No injuries were reported, and no motive has been determined. The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on Yow Road.
VICTIM TRIED TO TAKE ACTION
There was a robbery on West Market Street and Hilton Place on Aug. 1 in Greensboro. The suspect forced the victim to hand over his cell phone while he was standing next to his car. A struggle ensued as the victim started chasing the suspect. However, the victim was assaulted and unable to continue chasing after the suspect. The suspect was described as a black male in his early to mid twenties, wearing black pants, a black and white Polo shirt and a black baseball cap.
