The best and worst of Triad police blotters, as compiled

On April 16, a man in a black hoodie, a mask and wearing an orange traffic vest robbed the State Employee’s Credit Union on Peace Haven Road in Clemmons. He jumped the counter, took an undisclosed amount of money and dumped it in a trashcan before running out of the bank. The suspect carried a handgun, though no injuries were reported. CrimeStoppers appreciates any tips at 336.727.2800. I hope those orange vests do not go out of fashion now.

Police made an arrest after a hitand-run two weeks ago claimed a man’s life. Breanna Marie Newkirk, 23, of 3636 Belmont St. in Greensboro, was charged with felony hit-andrun, misdemeanor hit-and-run, and failure to report a traffic crash for the collision in which a 39-year-old pedestrian, Calvin Gerome Hendrix, was killed.

On April 24 in Greensboro, officers responded to a report of aggravated assault at 803 W. Florida St. Upon arrival officers found the victim Maurice Tucker. Tucker revealed that he had an altercation with a heavyset black male with dark complexion, about 6-feet-2. The suspect was wearing a white T-shirt and black shorts. Tucker followed the assailant after their altercation into a parking lot where he was shot multiple times in both legs. His injuries were not life threatening. I suppose following people around has its disadvantages.

Michael Thomas McLaurin, a 28-year-old black man, was shot and killed on 924 E. Cone Boulevard in Greensboro at the Cone Apartments after a disturbance in the area. The police have no description or motive at the time being and the investigation continues. Anyone else noticing how many shootings are going down in Greensboro recently?
