[BUSTED]

The best and worst of Triad police blotters, as compiled

FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT… TO DISTRIBUTE

Officer Larry D. Blevins, while patrolling at North Liberty Street in Winston-Salem, observed Victor Fortune in what the officer thought was illegal drug possession. Blevins pursued Fortune on foot after Fortune tried to escape the officer. After Fortune dashed into the woods behind a nearby Citgo, the officer removed his Taser. Unfortunately, the move backfired and Fortune gained possession of Blevins’ Taser. As they tangled, Blevins shot Fortune in the thigh with his handgun. Fortune was taken into custody after being treated for a relatively minor injury at Baptist Hospital. Fortune was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell and distribute cocaine, resist/delay and obstruct a police officer and assault on a law enforcement officer. This fight was straight out of an action movie. No word if Fortune has any connection to the one-armed man.

COLON PURSUES HYMAN

Greensboro officers were dispatched to the Microtel on Big Tree Way in responese to a robbery of individual on June 18. A tenant, later identified as Edwin Colon, was robbed at gunpoint. Deshaquanna Lundy and Eric George Hyman received charges of robbery with firearm, conspiracy, firearm by felon, possession of stolen property while Hyman received additional second-degree kidnapping and simple assault charges. Lundy and Hyman reportedly fled the scene in a red Toyota. Colon followed the subject onto Interstate 40. Colon was able to “flag down” a Guilford County sherriff’s deputy who followed the suspect to a parking area at Piedmont Triad Airport. Hyman and Lundy were apprehended at the airport parking lot without incident. Somehow you don’t expect a guy named Colon to track down a Hyman.

HAND OVER FIST

Greensboro police went to an address on Meadowview Road after an apparent scuffle. The victim, Warren M. Lee, advised that he became engaged in a domestic dispute with Melodye M. Long when Long assaulted him with a knife. Lee received a minor, nonlife threatening injury to his hand and was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Long was located at the scene and taken into custody. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and domestic assault. Do you ever wonder what these people fight about? I’m guessing the true meanings in literary masterpieces but it mighvt be money or fidelity, I guess.
