WOMAN ROBBED NEAR GOLF COURSE
A woman returning to her Hamilton Lakes home in Greensboro was robbed Sunday night in her driveway.
Police were called to the 1300 block of Henderson Road when a woman reported being robbed about 6:15 p.m. The victim told police that she had just arrived home when a white male approached her. The robber told the woman she would not be harmed if she gave him her pocketbook, according to police reports. The suspect was described as a white male with a slim build and dark hair. He was wearing a baseball cap, striped polo style shirt and shorts. After taking the woman’s purse the robber fled on foot through the nearby golf course.
MAN DIES AFTER BEING STRUCK BY CAR
A Winston-Salem man struck by a car last month died of his injuries at NC Baptist Hospital on June 25, according to police.
The 73-year-old man was struck on May 27 as he walked on E. Clemmonsville Road near US 52. Police said the man was crossing the road and was hit by a car going east about 10:30 p.m. Police followed that with an announcement last week that the man had died. The WSPD’s traffic enforcement unit has assumed the investigation. Little information was released due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. It is the ninth reported traffic death in the city in 2014.
DEATH STEMS FROM WILKES CRIME
Police discovered a man’s body in a wooded area off Willard Road near I-40 in Winston-Salem last week.
The next day Winston-Salem police tentatively identified the deceased, a Latino male, but released no other information pending notification of the man’s relatives. Detectives with WSPD worked with the NC Medical Examiner’s Office and the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office to determine the events surrounding the man’s death. The body was discovered about 5 p.m. on June 24.
Investigators believe the man died during the commission of a crime that began in Wilkes County. !
