Bandit wields metal pipe

On Oct. 19, Winston-Salem police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the University BP Station. A clerk was reportedly confronted by Clarence Lamont Chandler, who was armed with a metal pipe. Chandler allegedly struck the clerk with the metal pipe iand demanded money, at which time the clerk ran from the business. Chandler then reportedly left the area on foot after taking an undisclosed amount of money and other items from the store. The clerk received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center by Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services. Chandler was located and taken into custody at Georgetown Drive near Coliseum Drive. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Chandler was transported to the Forsyth County jail and placed under $45,000 secured bond.

La Tapatia robbed

On Oct. 19, Winston-Salem police responded to an armed robbery call after two white male subjects allegedly robbed La Tapatia 2 off Reynolda Road at gunpoint. The first subject was described as 5-9, slender build, wearing a grey hoodie pulled around his face and blue jeans, armed and brandishing small silver handgun. The victim described the second subject as 5-9, slender build, wearing a “Scream” mask and a Carolina-blue, short-sleeve T-Shirt and blue jeans. Both subjects are described as being in their late teens. The victim, Norma Galvin, told police the suspects entered the business and pointed a pistol at her and demanded money. Galvin gave the suspects an undetermined amount of cash and the suspects fled on foot, heading north. Winston-Salem police utilized the K-9 unit to track the suspects, but to no avail. Los Troncos shooting

On Oct. 17, Winston-Salem police responded to a shooting call at Los Troncos nightclub on South Main Street. The victim and suspect, whose names were withheld by police, became involved in an argument while inside the nightclub. According to police reports, security personnel were escorting the victim out of the club when the suspect produced a handgun and fired shots. The victim received a wound to his abdominal area and was transported to Baptist Hosptial by EMS. The victim was admitted with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect is described as an unknown Hispanic male. The investigation is ongoing. Subway robbed

On Oct. 17, Winston-Salem police responded to an armed robbery call at the Subway restaurant located at 660 Hanes Mall Blvd. According to police reports, the suspect, described as a black male, age 20-22, 6-4 in height, wearing a colored hooded sweatshirt with red or orange flame design on the hood, and red or orange design on the shoulder area, entered the restaurant and threatened employees with a weapon. The suspect then took an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register, and fled on foot. The investigation is ongoing.
