How’s about a nice Hawaiian Punch?
A pipe-wielding thief attacked and robbed a soda deliveryman on June 10 while he was stocking vending machines on the campus of Bennett College. The victim was working at around noon when he was approached by an unknown black man, about 6-feet tall, with a pipe. The man demanded money and forced the victim into the back of the drink truck. He fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money. Greensboro police encourage anyone with information about this crime to call the department or Crimestoppers.
Friday the 13th
Winston-Salem police officers arrested Dorothy Mae Footman, 39, 1220 N. Jackson Avenue, for the murder of 62-year-old James Alvin King early on the morning of June 13th. Officer responded to 5702 Shattalon Drive in response to a reported shooting and found King unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division conducted interviews with friends and witnesses that led to Footman’s arrest. She was charged with 2nd degree murder and taken into custody.
A janitor reporting to work at the Primecare Urgent Care on Hickory Branch Road in Greensboro encountered a chemical smell and the mess from an overnight break-in. The thief rifled desk drawers and storage areas and blew open a safe in the rear office. The witness discovered cleaning and bug spray bottles on the floor near the safe that had been used in the robbery. The intruder stole money and keys to the narcotics cabinet and also severed several telephone cables running from the rear of the building. As of publication, the victims had not made a full accounting of all the missing items. The investigation is ongoing.
