Jan. 9, New York Pizza,  337 Tate St., Greensboro New York Pizza is known for, among other things, it’s robust support of the hardcore scene. Hard rock lovers should take note of the show set for this Saturday. Billed as “four of North Carolina’s heaviest bands coming to level NYP”, the bill includes local stoner thrash metal unit Mini Guns. Vocalist Dick Blade puts on an energetic show as evidenced by a video produced by Amplifier magazine and Will Jones from this past summer. With Jason on guitar, Alec on drums and El Borracho Muerte holding down the bass, things alternate between brooding riffs and slow groove breaks. In support will be two bands from Wilmington, Toke and American Americans. Toke has a great track up on Bandcamp. Billed as belonging to the “rock, stoner, doom” genre, the Melvin-esque 55 second feedback intro leads into an epic opening wall of riffs before settling some 40 seconds later into a slow groove to make King Buzzo smile for once.

“On Wednesday, January 6th, 2016,The Blind Tiger will be featuring some of the most talented artists in The Gate City, all on the same night, all on the same stage, together. Each artist will be taking turns sharing their songs with you. You will have the opportunity to really get to know these fascinating people; who they are, how they feel, and what they think. Trust me, this is not an event to be missed. I guarantee this show will be  a most gratifying experience, I will personally refund your money. I, for one, feel that it’s time for a musical resurgence and revival in this town. The energy of the artist should be a direct reflection of the energy of the city, and vice versa.
