CITY CRACKS DOWN ON METH MARKET

Greensboro’s police attorney Jim Clark notified the owner of Phongsavanh Market on Coliseum Boulevard last week that the city may take steps to close the store in coming days.

The market, located at 1810 Coliseum Boulevard, was identified to city council by community activist Ben Holder as having been raided recently by police narcotics officers who found evidence that methamphetamine was being sold on the premises.

Attorney Clark notified the business owner via letter that he had until April 4 to discuss corrective action with authorities. Some city council members and area residents have already demanded the business be closed.

HOODED MEN ROB, SHOOT COUPLE

Six hooded men burst into a home on Cheshire Ct. in Winston-Salem early Monday and shot and robbed a couple in the home.

The couple in their late 20s was reportedly sleeping in the living room when they heard the front door being forced open just before 5 a.m. The couple told police that the six men, wearing orange and black hoods, were carrying guns and quickly forced their way into the home. After forcing them to put their heads down, the men demanded money and began taking items from the home.

Police said the male victim was shot in the arm by one of the robbers, who then proceeded to kick both the man and the woman before fleeing the scene.

The gunshot victim was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries.

A desk clerk at a local motel got the better of a would be robber on Monday in Greensboro.

Police say that 19-year-old India Corhen Whitney Warren tried to hold up the Suburban Lodge on Landmark Center Blvd about 3 a.m. She was reported to have entered the business wearing a mask and armed with a stun gun. The suspect went behind the counter to confront the clerk, but the clerk wrestled her to the ground.
