Carolina Blues Festival posts impressive attendance, profits
Forgive us for lapsing into first person plural, but we here at YES! Weekly are extremely proud to have been a part of the 19th annual Carolina Blues Festival, held this past Saturday in Center City Park.
Ours was but an ancillary role in this truly wonderful moment in the Carolina sunshine, yet we were honored to do our part. The festival, which has suffered some misfortune in the past, turned a profit for the second year in a row. The tunes were hot (Matt Hill’s set was particularly electrifying), the beer was cold and the vibe among the crowd was warm and fuzzy. And for once, the rain didn’t start until the music was over.
Hearty congratulations and thank yous are due to John Amberg, Lee Mortensen, all of the volunteers and members of the Piedmont Blues Preservation Society and also to all of the artists and fans who made the afternoon the great success that it was. If you missed it, hopefully these photos will have you kicking yourself in the butt and making plans for next year’s event.
