Contemporary Christian music artist Big Daddy Weave to perform at Hoppers game
from a press release…
The Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Piedmont Baptist Association (PBA) are proud to announce that popular Christian contemporary artist and national recording act, Big Daddy Weave, will perform on Aug. 7 immediately following the Greensboro Grasshopper’s baseball game at First Horizon Park.
Big Daddy Weave released their third album, What I Was Made For, on July 26. The album features three singles that have already hit the charts including the number one hit ‘“Worthy of my praise.’” BDW had already recorded several other contemporary Christian hits such as number one single ‘“Audience of One,’” ‘“In Christ’” and ‘“Fields of Grace.’” Their first album, One and Only, hit the Christian charts at number five making it the highest debut for any artist in 2002. That same year BDW received a Dove Award nomination for new artist of the year. They have since been honored two years in a row at ASCAP’s 2003 and 2004 Christian Music Awards.
Big Daddy Weave gets their name from lead singer Mike Weaver, who has written almost every song recorded by BDW.
‘“We are excited about having a band of Big Daddy’s caliber to perform a concert at First Horizon Park,’” said Grasshopper General Manager Tom Howe.
‘“This is a great chance for Christians in the area to come out and hear great praise music and enjoy a ballgame. I’m also proud to say that with the support of the PBA, ticket prices will remain the same as usual. For as little as $6 you can enjoy a baseball game and a concert.’”
The PBA (Piedmont Baptist Association) is thrilled to be sponsoring the game and the post-game concert.
‘“We are proud to be able to sponsor a night in which so many of the churches in this area will be treated to a baseball game at a beautiful new facility and an incredible Christian concert,’” said Larry Doyle, Director of Missions with the PBA. ‘“At the same time, it was important to us to get a band like Big Daddy Weave that through their contemporary music style, can appeal to anyone. You don’t have to be a Christian to enjoy what BDW has to offer.’”
The rockin’ music will cap off an already eventful evening at First Horizon Park. Sundays are Family Days at the stadium and activities will begin at 3:30 p.m. Also at that time, the field is open for any fans that would enjoy playing catch on the field. Following the fan-catch session, the game will begin at 5 p.m.
After the game, kids can run the bases just like the big-guys. After kids are finished running the bases, the concert will begin on Bellemeade Street. The street will be blocked off from 3 p.m. until the concert is completed.
Fans can attend the concert with the purchase of a ticket to Sunday’s game. Ticket prices for Sunday’s game range from $6- $9, depending on seating location.
