Downtown Greensboro Restaurant Week returns Aug. 22

It’s here again. After a successful pilot season in 2015, the second annual Downtown Greensboro Restaurant Week is Monday, August 22 through Thursday, August 25. The week consists of five days of daily specials on food and cocktails at participating Downtown Greensboro restaurants. Proceeds from the specials benefit the Downtown Greenway construction that officials hope to have completed by 2018. The event is open to all restaurants, bars and food trucks inside or adjacent to the Downtown Greenway. Last year seven restaurants participated in the event and this year’s number has exceed that with expectations of being double the number. “It’s rewarding to have so many organizations assist with this year’s event,” says organizer Nick Wilson, who also owns 1618 Concepts. “Triad Local First, O.Henry Magazine, Dabney and Laura at the Downtown Greenway office, Sarah Poole with Jim Beam – this is what restaurant week is all about.”

Some of the restaurants offering special deals are: 1618 Downtown, Crafted (Art of the Taco & Street Food), B. Christopher’s, Undercurrent, M’Couls, The Table, Blue Denim, The Worx, Joymongers, Manny’s, among others. Wilson says it only makes sense to keep a good thing going. “Our plan all along was to create a downtown restaurant week that gave back to the downtown community each year and showed how locally owned restaurants pull together.”You can visit dgsorw.com for an updated list of participating restaurants.
