Ed. E. Ruger’s Birthday Bash promises friends, fans and fun
Looking to start your musical weekend off with a party? Come to Greene Street (greenestreetclub.com) March 28. Ed E. Ruger (ederuger.com) is having a birthday show featuring Carolina hip hop at its finest with friends including the Iconoclast Crew, Ty Bru, Will Zay with Tenacious, Metaphor tha Great with Celinski (Adult Swim’s “The Boondocks”), Curve The Chaos and Ignite & Imagery, and he’s got you covered with drink specials all night to celebrate. The party starts at 10:30 p.m. and is presented by Suga Hill Entertainment. I definitely recommend coming if you are looking for big beats and drinks.
The Bravery in concert
What is New York City’s the Bravery doing in Greensboro? Oh nothing, just playing a free show at Hamburger Square Saturday night. The Tournament Town Goes Downtown block party is happening, and somehow managed to score this rapidly growing Island Records recording group. This festival is starting at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 9. You’ve probably seen them or heard their singles on TV shows like “The Hills,” or “Grey’s Anatomy.” Now see them for exactly zero dollars in the area bordered by Elm, Davie and McGee streets.
Irata at The Garage
For those of you who might want to enjoy something rather different on Saturday, perhaps indoors, and more experimental with music, go to Winston-Salem. The Garage (myspace.com/garageland) is having a show featuring Irata (myspace.com/iratalive), on the progressive/ambient side of rock. Not to mention they mix in perfectly with a well-combined group of performances and some new wave from Love Craft and indie rockers Red Collar (myspace.com/redcollarnc). This is a truly promising night in the downtown Arts District, and at a venue that seems to be on the rise.
