The Root Down Family Fest runs Friday through Sunday, Aug. 17 at 2223 Providence Church Road in Pleasant Garden. Friday’s lineup includes Black Death All Stars, Kinetic, Hot Politics, the Josh Phillips Folk Festival and Freepeoples frequencY. Saturday boasts Coffee & the Creamers, ExtraTerrestrial Circus Experiment, Pilgrims of the Wild, Family Eversole, Moonshine Racers, Larry Keel & Natural Bridge and Duende Mountain Duo. Finally, the Aug. 17 lineup features DJ Crewless and the return of the ExtraTerrestrial Circus Experiment.

Back in Winston-Salem, Mando Saenz, Stephen Simmons and 44 Love perform at the Garage on Friday.

The Mosaic Art & Music Festival goes down in Asheboro on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17. Saturday’s lineup includes Southern Culture On the Skids, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Buzzround, Old Stone Revue, Play Dirty and Jesse Bryant, with the Wyndy Trail Travelers, The Family Eversole, Uncle Mountain and the re-formed Swamp Boat filling out the bill the following day.

Maze featuring Frankie Beverly joins forces with Carl Thomas at the Joel Coliseum Theatre in Winston-Salem on Saturday.

Bannister marks the release of its new CD with the Tim Hooker Band and Ailyne at Café Jam in Greensboro on Saturday.

Bloodjinn, Hephystus, Return the Hero, Columns, the Reaping and Casta hold heavy-metal church at Greene Street on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Jim Mayberry plays an acoustic set at the Press Wine Café on Aug. 19, and the Endeavors round out the music week at the Blind Tiger.
