Fayetteville mounted officers horse around in Greensboro

Fayetteville Police Officers Michael Mulcahy (left), Steve Lawford and Joe Lamboy atop Winston, Bismark and Cricket give a demonstration on mounted law enforcement techniques in Governmental Plaza Friday afternoon. The Greensboro Police Department is considering adding mounted patrols to its downtown efforts. The horses, considered police aid animals like drug-sniffing dogs, can run up to 35 miles per hour, are immune to pepper spray and are worth 10 officers in crowd control situations according to the Fayetteville mounted unit.
