Jill Jackson’s Hollywood

by Jill Jackson

Love Don’t Let Me Down is the title of Gwyneth Paltrow’s upcoming film. It’s about a fallen country singer who becomes involved with a singer-songwriter. The film also stars countrymusic singer Tim McGraw. That’s about all I know about it at the moment. But what I do know is that Gwyneth has a good life with loving husband Chris Martin and beautiful kids Apple and Moses. Her father was producer Bruce Paltrow, and her mother is Blythe Danner.

The “little nothing” black dress is all the rage out this way. Kate Hudson recently appeared on “The Late Show” in what looked more like a bathing suit than a dress. Ditto his other femme guests. And ditto Conan’s. … Speaking of Conan, the race is still on between the red-haired Irishman and Letterman for latenight ratings, while Leno rolls merrily along is his earlier time slot.

Aside to Flora T. of Macon, Ga.: You ask if Beyoncé will ever make a movie. So far as I know, there is not one scheduled as yet. She is too busy making appearances and recordings, but you can bet sometime in the future she will. And yes, I do agree she is beautiful — and very sexy.

Another one for Johnny Depp. A Career Achievement Award received at the Baharias International Film Festival in Nassau. Sir Sean Connery made the presentation. And when Connery is around, there is still no one as impressively glamorous. Nor can any other actor have as sexy a voice. (Except maybe my favorite flavor of the month — Chris Pine.)

The saga of Scotland’s Susan Boyle reads like a fairy tale. This unknown, heavyset, not-too-pretty woman appears on a British reality show, sings a song and out of that throat comes a voice that’s unbelievably beautiful. At the moment, she is the subject of documentaries and is one of the top names in the music world. Her recordings are selling like crazy, and she is now known throughout the world. INCREDIBLE! There’s even talk of her being cast in a movie.

And to all of you who have asked: No, I do not think the holidays are the right time for a visit to Tinseltown. Not if you want to see movie stars. They all take off somewhere for their celebrations. If you want lights and lots of bell ringers and elves and etc., then come on.

BITS ‘N’ PIECES: George Clooney at a big holiday bash sporting a dark mustache. I didn’t like it, but then again, he didn’t consult me. His latest film, Up in the Air, is a smash hit. … Did you know that before Ellen DeGeneres became an actress, comedian, TV host and etc., she first considered becoming a pro golfer? She also worked as a waitress and later sold vacuum cleaners. That was all before her big-time career. … Paris? Lindsay? Britney? All’s quiet at the moment. Matter of fact, it’s so quiet I wish they would stir up a bit of excitement. We are all sated with the Tiger Woods saga.
