CASIE LEIGH LUKES — ART, FOOD, WRITING AND BOOK LOVER’
BY ERIC GINSBURG
Aspiring artist and editor Casie Leigh Lukes has a masters in library and information studies and she also makes her own deodorant. Two years ago Lukes finished an editorial internship at Our State magazine and graduated from UNCG and is focused on finding writing and editing internships. Meanwhile, she’s been painting and working with multimedia, and has sold a number of her pieces at Just Be and a local coffee shop. Lukes is happy with where she is now and wants to keep growing at everything she does, hoping one day to work for a food magazine or to open a bed and breakfast in Greensboro with her roommate. Together the two have made a significant shift in their food consumption habits, buying locally and organic and learning to grow food and herbs and how to cook. Lukes would like the bed and breakfast to include a showroom for artists as well as gardening and cooking classes. She maintains a blog with her writing and art, and is currently working on a project about things she is thankful for.
