Kevin Nance: From Psychology to Pokémon
by KAREN PHILLIPS
A senior at UNCG, Kevin Nance has one semester left to complete his undergraduate degree in psychology and is preparing to get his master’s degree in human development family studies. Kevin just finished an internship with the Head Start program of Macedonia in High Point which helps provide high-quality education to at-risk preschoolers. He hopes to be a family counselor in the future. Kevin is also an avid Pokémon Trading Card Game player, and has been since his sophomore year in high school. He just recently came in second place at Nationals in Indianapolis. He won $3,000 and a paid trip to Hawaii to compete against the top 100 Pokémon TCG players in the world, along with only 35 other American players. First place at the World Championships is $10,000. Kevin has great feelings for the Pokémon TCG and the company, and says, “The community is super nice and supportive.” If anyone would like to get involved in or learn more about the game, you can contact Kevin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
