Jeff Parrett: Light-o-Rama Extraordinaire

Jeff Parrett grew up with a special love for the Christmas season. His favorite part was decorating his home inside and out and seeing it transform to a winter wonderland. He is the youngest of six, and he and his siblings had to wait until 3 a.m. before they could open their presents on Christmas morning. About eight years ago, Jeff got a small music-and-light synchronization set at Home Depot and fell in love. That progressed into the Light-o-Rama choreographed display he has today. His home currently plays about 24 choreographed lighted songs — both seasonal and non-seasonal. A five-minute song usually takes him about 45-60 hours to program. Jeff’s display consists of more than 130,000 LED lights, a 40-foot Christmas tree and 14 smaller Christmas trees, plus much more. Jeff and his family begin decorating in late October and his light show runs through the first of the year. Jeff said he and his family can expect between 25 to 30 visitors on a weeknight to 50-75 visitors on the weekends.

He says his neighbors have been very supportive and decorate their yards as well, joining in on the Christmas spirit. As you approach the house, you can tune in to radio station 102.3 to listen to the music that coordinates with the lights. Stop by the Parrett Holiday Show at 502 James Doak Parkway, Greensboro, between 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on weeknights and until 11 p.m. on weekends to see the show.
