We joke about PR being the dark side of journalism, but it’s difficult to cast Carla Kucinski’s move from Go Triad to GTCC in that light. After seven years working at the News & Record as the editor of GoTriad, writing a column and maintaining the Pet Shop blog, Kucinski recently switched over to GTCC. With the future of newspapers going in a direction that made it difficult for a long-term plan to seem viable, Kucinski looked for a gig that would let her keep doing the things she loved about journalism — writing, meeting new people every day and an element of unpredictability. She feels great about supporting and promoting GTCC (and incidentally, so do we) and said she wouldn’t have ventured into public relations if it weren’t for an organization she cares about and feels good supporting. Thrilled to find a job locally that doesn’t require her to uproot and abandon her community, Kucinski is an ardent dog lover. The self-described book nerd and homebody also enjoys hiking and baking.
