CHRISSY SIMPSON – LEAD SINGER, COLD HIT RUBY
Singing has always come natural for Jamestown’s Chrissy Simpson. “I’ve been singing since I can remember,” she said. Simpson, 28, sang in her church choir growing up and later became vocally trained. She has overcome her fears and subsequently reaped the benefits. “I had stage fright, but I made myself get over it because I wanted to sing so bad,” Simpson said. A cosmetologist by day, she sings lead for Cold Hit Ruby, an eclectic rock band preparing to release its debut album. “The band is like my family,” Simpson said. On her own, she has been a “Triad Idol” finalist several times and advanced through multiple untelevised stages of “X-Factor.” Simpson’s biggest break came last November when she performed the National Anthem at the Carolina Panthers- Tampa Bay Buccaneers football game in Charlotte. Chrissy enjoys painting and stitching in her free time. Cold Hit Ruby performs at Somewhere Else Tavern at 8 p.m. Friday night as part of the Female Artist Takeover. You can hear their music on Facebook and Reverbnation.
