Caitlin Rhyne leads a double life. By day she’s a mild-mannered costume designer who dresses up like superheores and supervillains. By night… well, she’s a she’s a mild-mannered costume designer who dresses up like superheores and supervillains.
Rhyne explains, “I have always been into costuming. I was involved in theater growing up. I had been passionate about designing and I started started designing and making dresses early on in life.”
During last year’s Free Comic Book Day, she hatched a not-sonefarious plot to gain attention via her skill set.
“I got my own sewing machine a year before. Making my own dresses was fun, but cosplay made sense to combine my haphazard skills,” Rhyne said.
Having always been a self-described “huge comic nerd,” Rhyne knows she has a command of her characters. Her obsession with Amanda Connors’ Power Girl led to her first costume, but this year will be a little different.
“Thanos,” a Marvel villain, “will be my first male character.” She plans to debut Thanos at the 2013 Comic Book Day.
