When Lindsay Emery grew tired of waiting tables and bouncing around colleges in North Carolina and Virginia, she hatched a plan.

“I decided I was never going to be a full-time artist, but I thought I could sell a few cups or plates to have to wait a few less tables,” Emery said.

She joined and knew she had something special right away.

“I realized when I sold my first piece that I could make it work, she said.

Since then, she opened her own concern, Suite One Studios, sold a variety of dishes wholesale and her pieces have been featured in food photography and food styling pieces for Southern Living, Food and Wine and many more.

As she sells her modern handmade tableware, Emery knows learning more about her craft can only strengthen her foothold in her profession. Even with her recent successes, she continues to try and finish school at Guilford College while running her business.
