As the new program director at Winston-Salem State’s WSNC 90.5 FM, he gets to listen to and play jazz, blues and world music. Then, he gets to go to work selling records as a vendor at Center for a Better Greensboro.

“Whether it be starting a record co-op, writing for music magazines [or] my blog, or working as a program director for a radio station; it’s all about the music all day everyday,” Bonney said. “Luckily enough I’ve been able to have jobs that are all about music.”

In a rough financial time, it would have been easy to leave his music days behind.

He was laid off from his last radio job when UNCG made budget cuts, but he stayed true to his motivations.

“The music has always been my draw,” he said. And he makes it his job to draw in others as well. You can hear his show on WSNC on Fridays from 1-2 p.m.
