After seven years of hosting a radio talk show, you really get a handle on it. At least that’s what NewsRadio 600 WSJS must have been thinking when they hired veteran talk show host Allan Handelman. Starting Monday, Handelman was back on the air after a year-and-a-half break from local radio. In the interim, after FM Talk 101.1 WZTK changed its talk-radio format, Handelman hosted and produced two nationally syndicated shows but said he’s happy to be back on the local airwaves. Local listeners will likely be glad to have him back, especially given his 40-plus years of experience and big-name interviews like Bill Murray and Ron Paul under his belt. In a press release, Handelman said the show would avoid the “political rancor common on most radio talk shows” but would still cover an array of topics including politics. Handelman’s show airs from 3 to 6 p.m., replacing Bob Campbell who is headed into the music radio world.
