PAIGE MCINTOSH-THE ANGELIC VOICE
There are many talented and starquality students on a college campus, but most of them have yet to hit the big screen. On the campus of North Carolina A&T State University, rising senior Paige McIntosh is trying to make it to the forefront. “It all started in the womb. My mom said she would sing to me every day. She also prayed that my sisters and I would have beautiful voices, so singing just came naturally to me.”
She started singing in front of people at church when she was five-years-old. “Both my mom and grandma specialize in classical music. They have led and directed the church choir for years now.” After she performed her solo in church, she knew from that moment on she would want to do this for the rest of her life.
McIntosh has auditioned for various star-searching shows like American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and the X-Factor but she did not make it. “I believe it had to do more with my physical appearance than my God-giving talent. I was hurt by the decisions but that didn’t stop me.” She later went on to showcase her talent at the Monroeville Idol and Pittsburgh Idol in Pennsylvania. “I won a one thousand dollar scholarship to pay for school at the Monroeville Idol,” McIntosh said.
On campus, she is a part of Couture Productions, a student-led organization. Couture Productions is an organization that has three different sections: modeling, dance, and word. She is a part of the word sector, which is singing, spoken word, and poetry. “My last performance with them was for a Lupus event where I sang ‘Big White Room’ by Jessie J.”
McIntosh doesn’t want to be the girl that was never discovered, so after she graduates college she plans to send her demos out to different record labels and go from there. “I want to make an impact on the community. Don’t ever let a few no’s stop you from doing what you love. There are so many people out here who just give up because somebody tells them no. If you really want something, you have to fight and take what you want. I love to sing and everybody knows it. I just want to bless others with my voice.” !
