Letters to the Editor from the April 27 issue
Car alternatives need to be part of everyday life
Thank you for the great story about cycling and commuting in the Greensboro area. My husband and I just recently moved here from the Quad Cities area in Iowa and Illinois. I rode my bike to work almost every day that the weather was above 30 degrees and I loved it. The half-hour commute was one of the best parts of my day! We chose our new house near Grimsley High School mostly for the location. Although his commute is about a half-hour each way, once we are home we generally don’t have to drive anywhere, or if we do it isn’t far. Having said that, I would love to see more to promote cycling and walking as modes of transportation here in the Triad. This is so important for so many reasons: health, cleaner air, improved neighborhoods, and many more.’ We will continue to bike and walk wherever we can, and we hope you can provide us with more great articles of this nature to let us know how and/or where to voice our opinions.
