Local Talent: Christine Geiger
This week’s Page Three model, Christine Geiger, represents one-half of the dance team known as the Ember*ellas, the Triad’s favorite fire-dance performers. But the act goes way beyond the open flame. “We’re doing stilt-walking now,” she says by phone from a car ride between a performance in Asheville and another one in Charlotte. “We’re doing the hula hoop on stilts. We do a lot of cabaret and Vaudeville stuff. When we do cabaret we call it, ‘The tease before the tease,’ because we might take a couple of gloves off or something like that; we don’t go down to pasties so it’s not true burlesque. We also call it ‘Caburlesque.’” Geiger also works independently as a freelance make-up artist, stylist and costumer for some of her more theatrical friends. See her on Friday night with partner Patika Starr at the Deep Cover Movement’s Be New York show, or check out their MySpace page at www.myspace.com/emberellas.
