Pam Cooper bar manager, market coordinator

Pam Cooper works two jobs that share just as many differences as they do similarities. An Asheboro native and UNCG graduate, Cooper currently holds posts as co-manager of College Hill Sundries and market coordinator at the Greensboro Farmers’ Curb Market with little time to spare. “I work late-night hours at the bar and early-morning hours at the market,” Cooper says. “[It] occupies so much of my life!” Cooper, who recently discovered her “green thumb,” says she often uses fresh peaches and strawberries from the market to make daiquiris at the bar on Sundays, giving bar customers a chance to taste products from her other job. She is currently working to adopt an EBT system for the market that will allow customers to use food stamps to make purchases. Overall, it’s the community aspect of her work that she finds enjoyable. “Both jobs have a lot of soul,” Cooper says. “It’s soulful because you’re dealing with real people and not anything superficial.” For more information, visit the College Hill Sundries page on Facebook or
