Heather James — photographer

The art of capturing a stillness in time is one in which Heather James takes great pride. James, a wife and mother of Kayleigh and Kegan, is a self-taught professional photographer who specializes in portraiture using natural light. “I’ve always loved photography but never realized I had a talent for it until my daughter was born.” Since then, the Madison native has employed a photo-journalistic style with little to no flash to shoot weddings, newborns, families, children and boudoir. “[Boudoir is] capturing women at their sexiest,” James says. “[It’s] empowering for women…. It’s a very hot ticket!” James says she always pushes for people to have their pictures taken especially after her mother’s passing in 2008. “It helped me to realize the importance of capturing life,” she says. “Babies aren’t always babies,” James adds with a laugh. James owns Queen B Photography and Design. For more information, visit or call 336.453.5133.
