Beanpatch Gardening is an example of community-supported agriculture with a business edge — subscribers have “fresh, in season certified naturally grown produce delivered weekly, such as strawberries, tomatoes, salad greens [and] root veggies delivered weekly,” according to this week’s Page Three model Emily Brown. This time of year, that means Christmas trees, specifically Fraser firs grown up in Boone — and, says Brown, each tree comes with a $10 gift certificate for a massage. “We plan to help educate our local community about the importance of sustainable gardening practices and ‘clean’ food,” Emily says, “food void of pesticides and such.
