[NEEDLE DROP]

Following up on new music video releases, Winston-Salem’s Mechanical Eye Films is also celebrating the debut of the visual accompaniment for Ameriglow’s “Dream Pt. 1.” The music instantly brings to mind the sounds of alt-J, which is certainly not a bad thing. Check the video out at MechanicalEyeFilms.com, and keep your eyes here for an upcoming feature.

If you’re at a loss for things to do while shopping for records, Reanimator Records down on Patterson Avenue in Winston-Salem just got a foosball table. Is this news? Well, it’s not exactly breaking, but if you needed some sort of coercing as to why you should hang out in record shops more, Reanimator offers a great solution.

Hippo Records closed its doors last week, but only for one day. Apparently this was only the second time this has happened, and it was so a new rack could be built to hold records. We’re excited to see if they can hold more because you can never have too much vinyl.

According to Underdog Records’ Twitter account (@underdogrecord), the brick and mortar store is working on a Mixcloud playlist that will hopefully become a regular fixture again for the music shop. Perhaps Underdog wants to showcase more of the music the store is stocking, or they just want to share more music with more people. Either way, keep up with Underdog by following them on Facebook and Twitter for weekly specials and new additions to inventory.

DJ Hek Yea, aka Brian Short, dropped some serious news this past week by way of new music and new shows. To start, he dropped a remix of Gorillaz “Clint Eastwood,” which is a whole new take on the song. Gone are the slick rap stylings of Del the Funky Homosapien, leaving Damon Albarn’s chorus to play in and out of the new beat. It’s a fresh piece from Short, and perhaps a tease at a new direction he’s taking his craft.

But that’s not even the biggest news:

Short also has been blasting the news about the GLO Paint Party Tour and FoamDrop, the former kicking off this week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It’s definitely worth the pre-season road trip to the beach if you’re itching for some sand and EDM … and paint and foam. Candyland DJs are billed for the Foam- Drop event that takes place on March 21 in Wilmington. !
