Thursday the Hanesbrands Theatre will show The Tempest live in HD. Featuring Academy-Award winner Christopher Plummer as Prospero, the filmed event includes a post-show Q&A with Plummer.

The Kernersville Little Theatre presents its patriotic musical Kilroy Was Here! Thursday through Sunday at the James Fitzpatrick Auditorium. Play continues June 21-24. Set in a USO Club (“the Serviceman’s ‘Home Away from Home’”) in Brooklyn, 1942, the comedy salutes the brave men and women who served in the military and back home during WWII.

Also on Thursday, local artist Cara Hagan will present Nan the Man and Other Tales, an evening of storytelling, at Design Archives Vintage in Greensboro. Hagan is an award-winning artist in dance, film, music and storytelling, and is also the professor of dance at High Point University. Stories are geared toward adults but suitable for all ages. Admission is suggested donation of $10.

Triad Stage hosts its official opening night, with post-performance party, for its production of The Illusion Friday. The comic fantasy tells the story of a man who seeks the help of a mysterious sorcerer to learn what has become of the son he banished years ago. Play runs through July 1. Look for a feature on June 20 about the construction of the mystifying set.

Also on Friday Theatre Alliance presents Xanadu, a musical which runs through July 1. The comedy follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse who descends from the heavens to California in 1980 to help inspire a struggling artist.

Providing a fun outing for young kids this summer, UNCG Theatre 232 presents Winnie-the-Pooh in the Brown Building Theatre Saturday. Play runs again June 21-23; June 29-30.

Hanesbrands Theatre projects an encore HD screening of One Man, Two Guvnors, a comedy by Richard Bean, Monday, June 18. The filmed performance by Britain’s National Theatre is presented by the National Theatre Live.

Next Wednesday marks the first showing of one of Broach Theatre’s ever-popular Tuna performances. Red, White and Tuna performs at the Broach Theatre June 20-30. And also showing June 20-30 is Fashionistas, A Narcissistic Love Story by Theatre 232, a UNCG and Triad Stage collaboration, in the UpStage Cabaret.
