There are just a few special guests this week for the Triad’s Thanksgiving holiday, including a group wilder than the in-laws.

The first guest will be presented live in HD as part of Hanesbrands Theatre’s Ballet in Cinema series. Sunday, the theater presents An Evening with Kylián, Inger and Walerski — Nederlands Dans Theatre, in which two of Kylián’s ballets from the renowned “Black and White” series are presented alongside works by his protégés, NDT’s associate choreographer Johan Inger, and NDT dancer and choreographer Medhi Walerski. NDT is considered to have “the most balletic modern dancers in the world,” according to the Times.

Tuesday, High Point University’s music department will treat the community to a night of music and entertainment with its Opera Workshop, which features a series of opera scenes. Showcasing both well known pieces, such as that of Mozart, and lesser known pieces, the event will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center.

The event is open to the public and no tickets are required.

And, finally, because their nationwide schedule was interrupted due to Hurricane Sandy, the Universoul Circus will perform in the Greensboro Coliseum’s parking lot Tuesday through Sunday, Nov. 27-Dec.2. Tickets range from $15-$28 and can be purchased at

Moving on to next week, Greensboro College will present the unique Broadway musical, [title of show] next Wednesday through Sunday, Nov. 28-Dec. 2 in Annie Sellars Jordan Parlor Theatre on campus.

Kernersville Little Theatre will present its special holiday duo-production on Nov. 30. Performing both Believe! and The Gift of the Magi, the theatre has put together an evening performance full of sentiment and traditional Christmas music. Performances are at Main Street Baptist Church Nov. 30; Dec. 1; Dec. 6-9.

That same week, Theatre Alliance will present a play in a much different spirit…Sordid Lives. The “dark comedy about white trash” is one of the theatre’s most popular plays. After a good Christian woman hits her head on the sink and bleeds to death, chaos erupts in the town of Winters, Texas. Performance dates are Nov. 30-Dec. 16.
