New this week is Theatre Alliance ‘s Next to Normal production in Winston-Salem. The dramatic, but humorous musical follows the story of a suburban mother with bi-polar disorder and gives a unique perspective on what being normal really means. Performances run Friday through June 1.

Triad Stage’s Brother Wolf continues at the Hanesbrands Theater in Winston-Salem now through Sunday. The Appalachian adventure features a live folk band onstage.

Next Friday, May 30, Twin City Stage presents The Fox on the Fairway, a tribute to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s. The farce is set against the backdrop of an annual golf tournament between rival country clubs and celebrates love, life, and man’s eternal love affair…golf.

Next Saturday, May 31, Broadway’s Best Theatre Company presents the first in its Visiting Artists Series, “The Great American Songbook,” featuring the groups Triad Harmony Express, Downtown Sound and Easy Livin’. The family-friendly production begins in a small Midwestern train station in the mid ‘30s and continues through a timeline of some of America’s favorite songs.

Also next Saturday, Hanesbrands Theatre presents SALUTE: A Tribute to Our Armed Forces, featuring three acts encompassing the great songs and dance styles of the 1940s, a heart felt tribute to the price of freedom, and an anthem style salute to our Armed Forces.

NC Shakespeare Festival’s 30 Days of June raffle tickets are still available through next Saturday. Proceeds go to benefit the struggling theater. In other news, a few local theatre and dance groups have been selected for the 88.5 WFDD Arts Awareness Contest. Area entrants include Greensboro Ballet, Greensboro Symphony Guild, Kernersville Little Theatre and Broadway’s Best just to name a few.
