New on Saturday, Hanesbrands Theater brings national acclaim to the Triad in its live HD screening of A Small Family Business, by Olivier Awardwinning playwright Alan Ayckbourn.
The riotous exposure of entrepreneurial greed highlights a man of principle who is challenged by a corrupt world. After taking over his father-in-law’s business, Jack McCracken discovers his extended family to be a group of thieves and adulterers who have been looting the business. Once McCracken decides to invest in self-interest, as well, hysteria begins to ensue.
This week only, Carolina Theatre continues to present the products of the 48-hour film festival in Greensboro, where several local artists had a mere two days last weekend to create a short film. The remaining films will be screened Wednesday and Thursday in the Crown at Carolina Theatre and audiences can vote on their favorite.
Eloquent speech and crafty schemes continue in Triad Stage’s All’s Well that Ends Well, a re-invention of the Shakespearean classic, which continues through Sunday. The mildly comedic drama highlights a clever female protagonist who gets to have the husband of her choice and won’t take no for an answer.
UNC Greensboro continues its spin on a classic, Jack and the Jelly Beanstalk, which continues this week in the Brown Building Theater on campus. The play responds to the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Daytime, familyfriendly performances are select days this week through June 27. The onehour play is suggested for audiences 4-8 years old.
Also continuing this week is Kernersville Little Theatre’s Brigadoon, a story about two hikers who find a magical and mysterious lost village in the Scottish Highlands. Play runs select days this week through Sunday. Check out the feature to the left for more details on the crafty set.
Friday through Sunday, Broadway’s Best Theatre Company finishes up the last show of their Bare Bones season, Showstoppers, a musical revue of Broadway favorites.
