New this week is Open Space Café Theatre’s teen performance of the popular Broadway musical RENT at The Crown Stage at Carolina Theatre. More than 20 actors, ranging in age from 14 to 20, will be onstage, singing from platforms and jumping from scaffolding. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday.
Thursday through Sunday, Greensboro Children’s Theatre, 3 rd Stage Theatre Co. and Livestock Players continue to present a joint production of the musical Pippin at Weaver Academy.
Pirates will be taking over the Greensboro Coliseum on Saturday for the Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate & Princess Adventure. The show targeted to preschoolers contains princesses alongside of those pirates and features characters from the hits Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates. Mickey and Minnie lead the audience on an exciting adventure with their favorite pirate and Disney’s first little girl princess.
Continuing through Sunday, No Rules Theatre Company performs Boeing Boeing, a comedy about a playboy who’s juggling three flight-attendant fiancées, at the Hanesbrands Theatre.
Also continuing this week is Community Theatre of Greensboro’s Hairspray, Jr., a youth production of the musical that follows a spunky plus-size teen who dreams to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show in the 1960s. Performances are this week through July 27 at the community theater’s permanent home at 520 S. Elm St.
Coming soon, Broadway’s Best Theatre Company presents the Whitetop Mountain Band on July 26, starting at 6 p.m. The Whitetop Mountain Band is one of the most popular dance bands of the Appalachian Mountains. They have a great following at square dances all over Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Kentucky. Tickets are $15.

CTG’s next community production will be Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Jr. in August.
