This week, there’s a little something for everyone. As summer vacation is just around the corner, several theatres are beginning auditions for youth productions. Check here and at your local theatres for opportunities for the kids. For those looking for a more mature evening, check out one of the adultthemed productions hitting the stage.

Theatre Alliance continues its production of Blood Brothers, a musical about a set of twin boys who grow up apart and lead very different lives. Productions run this week through Sunday.

Tuesday and Wednesday, Piedmont Players Theatre is holding youth auditions for The Wizard of Oz at The Norvell Theater in Salisbury. Participants should prepare 16 bars from the song of their choice and bring sheet music. Dress accordingly for a brief dance routine, as well. Show dates are July 14-23.

Also on Tuesday and Wednesday, the theatre will hold auditions for Hands on a Hardbody, a musical based on the film of the same name in which a group competes to win a new truck.

Coming soon in June is Triad Stage’s final production: Don Juan by Moliére and adapted by Preston Lane. The wicked comedy digs into the themes of love and trust, while highlighting a great playboy.

Also beginning in June is Twin City Stage’s production of Tuesdays with Morrie, based on the book by Mitch Albom. Opening night with wine and hors d’oeuvres is next Friday, June 3, at the Hanesbrands Theatre.

The Drama Center of City Arts, in collaboration with Guilford County Schools, will hold auditions for Henry IV, Part 1 on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11, in the Greensboro Cultural Center.

Later in June, High Point Ballet will perform Gary Taylor’s On Broadway, which includes wide-ranging choreography, from the classical ballet of An American in Paris to the tight intensity of Fosse and the throwback jazziness of 42nd Street. Performances are June 16 and 17.

Coming this July is Open Space Café Theatre’s production of the hilarious 25 th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. The production features a variety of kids with quirks as they compete to take home the trophy. !
