Nunsense II coming to the Theatre Alliance this week.

If you didn’t get to catch the Greensboro Coliseum’s production of Disney Live! Three Classic Fairy Tales, you’re in luck. Due to popularity, they have added an extra production for this Friday at 4 p.m. The magical show features more than 25 Disney characters and is “hosted” by Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy as they take audiences through three timeless fairy tales: Snow White, Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. New this week is Theatre Alliance’s Nunsense II: The Second Coming, which promises to be a fun and unique experience. Not only is the series known for being silly and comical, but Theatre Alliance has received special permission to produce the show with an all-male cast. Typically, Nunsense A-men is the only production in the Nunsense series written with only men performing as the gaggle of nuns. The audience will also recognize many of the nuns from Theatre Alliance’s past production of Nunsense A-men. The play, which runs on select days Friday through August 30, revolves around the nuns putting on a thank you benefit for their fundraiser supporters. Also new this week is Twin City Stage’s tribute to Billie Holiday, which runs for two nights only on Friday and Saturday.Friday through Sunday only, UNCG Theatre will perform Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, a bittersweet comedy about the unlikely romance between two middle-aged “losers.” Performances are in the Brown Building Theatre at 402 Tate Street on the campus of UNCG. The production includes nudity. In other news, Greensboro College is looking for child actors to be in its upcoming production of Mary Poppins, which will run November 5-8. The theater is looking to cast the roles of Jane (11) and Michael Banks (9). Actors must be able to look and act the age of the role. Auditions are next Saturday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. at Huggins Performance Center. Participants will be asked to sing a song, read from the script and perform a small dance routine (given). Bring an 8×10 photo, resume of any theatre/voice work and sheet music. For more information email
