Winston-Salem’s newest “eatery” is enjoying early success and accolades after just a month of be ing open. Quanto Basta: Italian Eatery & Wine Bar is the culmination of a lifelong dream for Chef Tim Grandinetti, along with his wife, Heidi, and his business partners, Lynn and Lynette Murphy. This partnership is also behind the successful Spring House Restaurant Kitchen & Bar located just around the corner on Spring Street. In fact, patrons sitting along the street view of Quanto Basta, “qb” for short, can catch a glimpse of the Spring House mansion keeping careful watch from where they dine. It helps to keep your kitchens within walking distance if you are a busy chef, like Grandinetti.

Translated in Italian, Quanto Basta means “as much as you need,” and that’s just what Grandinetti hopes it to be. “I want QB to be a gathering place. And for it to be a celebration of the art of food and the ‘joyful voice’ of the Italian Culture.” The menu boasts homemade pastas and Old World Italian Specialties like Eggplant Parmesan, antipasti, sliders, pizzette and other specialties that remind Grandinetti of his Italian heritage and his childhood. One specialty rarely seen is a rotisserie fire-roasted porchetta. Of course, expect to see plenty of wine at QB. Stored in a climate- controlled Tuscan Wine Tower, 200 labels are featured, most from Italy and many others from around the globe, including our own Yadkin Valley.

For gathering, the restaurant has seating for 74 guests in the main dining room and bar and includes a couple of festive community tables and an additional 32 seats in the “Loggia,” which can also be used for larger groups. There’s also the Pizzette Counter for full views of pizza dough tossing and baking that can seat eight guests. In this part of the rustic kitchen, patrons will see a sign for Bucci’s, the Italian restaurant owned by the chef’s grandparents 50 years ago in Hudson, New York. “I’ve been holding on to this sign for years, just waiting for a perfect home for it,” Grandinetti says.

Get as much as you need Monday through Saturday, 4pm until “late night.”

And Sundays, 11-6, which will feature Nonna’s Family-Style Dinner.

The Grandinetti’s and Murphy’s also own Maple Chase Country Club in Winston-Salem, which they purchased and renovated early last year. !
