R5 Rocks in a theatre near you April 16

If you’re not rocking at the 17 th annual RiverRun International Film Festival’s opening-night festivities, there’s always the big-screen rock ‘n’ roll event R5: All Day, All Night, presented by Fathom Events and AEG Live, which will be broadcast to 400 theaters nationwide – including the Greensboro Grande Stadium 16 (3205 Northline Ave.), and The Grand 18 Winston-Salem IMAX (5601 University Parkway).

The Los Angeles-based pop/ rock group, consisting of siblings Ross, Riker, Rocky and Rydel Lynch, and friend Ellington Ratliff, will be showcased in a 90-minute performance that includes their standing-room-only performance at Hollywood’s Roxy Theatre, a 45-minute documentary that traces the group’s meteoric career, exclusive interviews, special plugged-in and acoustic performances, and undoubtedly a few surprises for R5 mavens.

“To see the story of R5 on the big screen is something we’d never thought would happen,” said R5’s Riker Lynch in an official statement. “We are so excited for all our fans to see who we are, where we came from, and how this whole crazy R5 dream was built. We wouldn’t be here without them.”

“R5 is one of the hottest new pop-rock quintets around and Fathom Events is thrilled to bring this exciting event to fans nationwide,” added Kymberli Frueh- Owens, Fathom Events vice-president of programming, in her statement. “It’s exciting to see these young men come together, form an amazing sound, and rise to the top so quickly!” In its short, six-year history, R5 has rapidly become a favorite of music fans the world over. Brothers Ross (rhythm guitar), Riker (bass), Rocky (lead guitar), sister Rydel (keyboards) and friend Ellington Ratliff (drums) claim a wide variety of musical inspirations encompassing classic rock (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, The Beach Boys) and latter-day pop, rock and punk (Maroon 5, Bruno Mars, Neon Trees, Walk the Moon, The Script).

For the last 18 months, R5 have toured the world, playing 150 shows to sold-out crowds in 21 different countries, which began in Warsaw, Poland, and included stints in Great Britain, France, Scotland, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Israel and Ireland. The band is putting the finishing touches on their upcoming sophomore album (yet to be titled) and the release of the first single, “Let’s Not Be Alone Tonight.”

In support of that release, the band will embark on a US summer tour followed by international tour dates in the fall. R5 will be on the move again, rocking every corner of the globe.

R5’s debut album, Louder, was released in 2013 and reached the number-one position on iTunes in 10 countries. The group has performed at the Radio Disney Music Awards in 2014 and, believe it or not, at the annual White House Easter Egg Roll, chillin’ out with the Commander-in-Chief. !
