Regional band, stratocruiser, partners with filmmaker for new video, The Spark

by C. Howard

North Carolina rock band, stratocruiser , today announced a partnership with local filmmaker and director, Jason Pierce to film a new promotional video for the band’s upcoming release, The Spark.

The band and director previously worked together on the music for the title credits of the movie Hellphone, recent winner of the Blue Sky Film Festivals’ prestigious Best Feature award.

“We are excited to have Jason bring our vision of this song to reality,” said stratocruiser singer and rhythm guitarist, Clay Howard.” This album was written with a cohesive story line, and Jason has found a way to tell the entire story in this single clip. I think it will really add to the final product, which we hope to have released in late summer.”

“I was intrigued by the story of the song, and we came up with some great visuals to tell it. It also helps that in typical stratocruiser fashion, the song is great. They are covering some deep concepts, but keep it interesting and fun.” said Jason Pierce, director and president of Film Whisperer productions.

There is a need for extras for a scene to be shot in downtown Greensboro on March 26 at 2 p.m.,and the production company has placed an open casting call to fill these spots.

It’s power pop. It’s garage. It’s psychedelia. It’s stratocruiser. Hopelessly and irreverently out of step with the latest trends, stratocruiser laces their happy rock sounds with hooks that are deep and wide and loud guitars that alternately are jangly and crunchy. Dollop on a heap of vintage keyboard textures (Hammond B3’s, Mellotrons, electric pianos… mmm, creamy!) and this robust instrumental stew of sound deftly balances the melodic flair of songwriters Mike Nicholson and Clay Howard. www.stratocruisermusic. com
