Whelp, the food trucks are still rolling in downtown Greensboro every weekday as part of the city’s pilot program. This week, Raleigh City Council hears arguments about allowing the trucks in their center city. Whichever way it falls, we want to see more of the Chirba Chirba dumpling truck in these parts.

Don’t blame the food trucks for the closing of Bill’s Pizza Pub on High Point Road in Greensboro, which shut its doors last month after 43 years in that location. There are still two others — one in Oak Ridge and another on Randleman Road in Greensboro.

High Point’s second Zaxby’s location has opened on North Main Street. And the McDonald’s on Greensboro’s Guilford College Road has just undergone a $1.5 million renovation.

If fine dining is more your thing, Undercurrent in Greensboro holds an Italian wine dinner with Grapevine Distributors on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. Make a reservation at 336.370.1266. And The Fresh Market on Greensboro’s Lawndale Drive has Chef Brian Keegan preparing spiced honey porterhouse steaks at 4 p.m.

All weekend long, Total Wine & More will be tasting the wines of the Rhone, among other delicious intoxicants, at all three Triad locations.

On Saturday the Fresh Market at Greensboro’s Highwoods Boulevard has a cooking demo at 3 p.m. featuring Malaysian stir-fry.

Also on Saturday, the Greensboro Police department holds a Crimestoppers Breakfast at Fatz Café beginning at 7:30 a.m. to raise money and awareness about the city’s crime prevention program. The Winston-Salem Whole Foods Market has a local vendors fair featuring — duh — local vendors at noon. And it’s Harvest Day at Old Salem Museum & Gardens featuring apple cider, apple fritters, candy apples, dried apples and a puppet show about an apple tree, as well as sausage-making and more.
