Hot on the heels of the closing of Tavo in downtown Greensboro comes news of the re-opening of Tavo’s in downtown Greensboro. The fancy-schmancy joint with the pubstyle menu in the lobby of the Kress Building had some tax issues that are now cleared up, according to the News & Record.

Joining Tavo in the Gate City is Devall’s Cajun Cuisine on West Market Street. Owner Roger Devall is a Baton Rouge, La. who formerly ran Potato Works in the spot that now houses the Burger Spot. I remember Devall — guy makes a solid jambalaya.

the Winston-Salem march of dimes signature chef’s auction has named its co-chairs for the event: Jimmy and Juliana Strickland, according to a press release which also came with a predictable quote from Jimmy, who said, “We feel privileged to be the honorary chairs of the 8th annual Winston-Salem Signature Chefs Auction.”

Back to Greensboro, where a Greensboro College team won the Biscuitville Biscuit Bowl by creating a sausage, egg and cheese Biscuit Bowl, which will be available in area stores this month.

More news: The Fresh Market has a new line of flavored coffees, including salted caramel and cocoa-chili spice, in all three Triad locations. McDonald’s has a new Southwest Chicken Premium McWrap.

Hardee’s has a maple sausage, egg and cheese biscuit. Red Lobster has pumpkin pie in a jar. LongHorn Steakhouse has a pumpkin-spice lava cake. Chili’s has started a delivery service. And the Olive Garden has introduced a pumpkin cheesecake, showing once again why they’re the best Italian restaurant in the Triad.

Saturday is the day of action this week, with the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market holding court at the Aycock Middle School gym until A&T homecoming is over, a truck show at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market and a sweet wine dinner at Undercurrent in Greensboro.
